1.1 This document provides definitions used by Committee B08 in the writing of standard guides, test methods, specifications, and practices relating to metallic coatings and processes for depositing these metals.

1.2 These definitions correspond to interpretations as applied to electroplating and do not necessarily correspond to the definitions used in other fields.

1.3 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
