Standard Specification for Metal Lath

Summary

1.1 This specification covers sheet lath, expanded metal lath, diamond mesh, flat and self-furring, and rib metal lath, 1/8 and 3/8 in. (3.2 and 9.6 mm), all with or without factory-attached water-resistive barrier and designed to be used as a base for gypsum or portland cement plaster.

1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.

1.3 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.


Rationale:

This specification covers sheet lath, expanded metal lath, diamond mesh, flat and self-furring, and rib metal lath, all with or without backing and designed to be used as a base for gypsum or Portland cement plaster. Metal lath shall be fabricated from cold-rolled carbon steel sheet of commercial quality as specified and galvanized metal lath shall have a G60 coating. Physical properties such as thickness, width, length, and weight shall be specified. Metal lath shall be fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel.
