Rationale:

This specification covers the general requirements for statically cast prestressed concrete poles intended for use as structural supports for lights, distribution, transmission and dead end poles. The products made up of cements, aggregates, admixtures, and steels that meet the requirements. Products may be manufactured by accelerated curing, water curing, membrane curing or steam curing, then prestressed and reinforced. Water used for curing, washing aggregates, and mixing concrete should be free from substances in amounts that may be harmful to concrete or steel. Poles should be designed to carry all the forces associated with prestressing, handling, storage, installation, loading, and other service conditions.
