ASTM E3494-25
Summary
1.1 This test method describes a method for the evaluation of antifoaming agents used to inhibit or prevent the formation of foam in liquids during mixing at the time of application of agricultural chemicals. This laboratory test method may be used for dilute aqueous solutions containing agricultural products as may be encountered by growers when mixing in preparation for a field application.
1.2 This method is described using SI units, which are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this test method.
1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
Significance and Use:
5.1 This test method is designed to determine the ability of an antifoam to reduce or eliminate the formation of undesirable foam that can be generated during the mixing and application of agricultural chemicals in dilute aqueous mixtures.
5.2 This test method may be used to determine the relative effectiveness of one antifoam versus another. It is the responsibility of the method user to interpret the results with respect to the actual field use of the antifoaming agents tested.
