1.1 This specification pertains to fixed wing transport units involved in patient transportation and care, at the basic life support level. It outlines the minimum requirements, including personnel, and the patient care equipment and supplies, that must be met before the unit can be classified as a basic life support transport unit.

1.2 The specification describes: the minimum vehicle configuration and capability, the minimum number of seats for personnel, and the provisions for the minimum medical equipment and supplies.
