1.1 This standard covers the functional classification of hardware for all types of wood fencing, including fences fabricated with combinations of wood and other materials.

1.2 The classification system defined herein is intended only to standardize the grouping and identification of wood fence hardware items so that references made in specifications and procurement documents are uniformly understood throughout the industry. This classification does not specify quality levels or testing requirements for any hardware item.
