The standard specifies the requirements for fire brigade emergency microphones and gives principles for its conformity assessment and marking. The fire brigade emergency microphone serve to the connection of voice alarm control and indicating equipment to the emergency alarm system. They enable a uniform display of different operating states of the voice alarm control and indicating equipment for the fire brigade action force without help of the operator of the voice alarm control and indicating equipment. They also allow an ergonomic and uniform operating of all relevant functions and the possibility of providing intelligible warnings to persons during a fire emergency and during functional tests.
