Industrial trucks - Safety requirement - Part 2: Use in narrow aisles
Summary
In Annex I, Section 1.8, paragraph 3 of the 'Arbeitsstättenverordnung' requires that - if handling equipment is used on transport roads - for pedestrians, a sufficient safety gap must be maintained. To avoid the crushing of human bodies the safety gap is at least 500 mm (see DIN EN 349 ' Safety of machinery - Minimum gaps to avoid crushing of parts of the human body ', Section 4.2). The safety gap must exist on both sides of the industrial truck. This standard shows options for requirements with which a sufficient personal protection can be achieved, if the safety gaps, when using a guided industrial truck in very narrow aisles, cannot be maintained.
