Summary

This document deals with the determination of the consistency limits of cohesive soils as specified in DIN 18196. Consistency limits are a measure of the plasticity of soil and its reaction to change in water content. In conjunction with the water content they provide and indication of the state of cohesive soils (consistency) and thus of their strength.
