Summary

The direct shear test is used in earth and foundation engineering works. The dokument applies to the determination of shear strength of soils by the consolidated, drained shear test on cylindircal or cuboid specimens. The limit states of the largest and of the critical shear strength can be determined with this test. The results can be used for soil static calculations.
