This standard applies to industrially manufactured polystyrene foams (made of granules) in the form of boards and sheets which are used for impact sound insulation in building construction. The polystyrene foams also serve to improve thermal insulation and, combined with a screed floor covering, also to improve air-borne sound insulation. This standard also applies to polystyrene foams combined with coverings and profiles. It does not apply to polystyrene foams used only for thermal insulation purposes.
