The document applies to the design and dimensioning of load-bearing support structures for new mine shafts which are generally circular in profile and cylindrical in shape and which are to be sunk vertically in competent and non-competent strata. It also applies to existing which are to be reconstructed, reinforced or repaired and which for this purpose have to be provided with preliminary support structures or new shaft linings and fittings.
