This standard specifies the requirements for providing and acquiring the services of conference interpreting. It describes the necessary competences and qualifications of a conference interpreter which are required to exercise its profession, and it defines the practical and ethical frame conditions of the profession for good practice of conference interpreting. For this purpose the activities and tasks of conference interpreters are described, the various interpreting modes commonly used at conferences are specified, and the requirements for education and training for this field of work are described.
