Summary

This standard specifies rules for the calculation of areas and volumes of buildings. Areas and volumes serve for the ascertainment of construction costa as well as rent and purchase prices. Furthermore they are used to compare the efficiency and economy of different buildings. Uniform rules for the calculation of areas and volumes are therefore a prerequisite for the comparability of costs, prices and performance of buildings.
