Stationery accesses to process apparatus - Part 2: Railings for platforms

Summary

This standard applies to the configuration and construction of railings at stationary accesses to process apparatus which are generally used for control and maintenance works on these apparatus. For enamelled, lined or coated apparatus and apparatus made from non-ferrous metal or plastics the application has to be checked. This standard defines two forms: Form A one knee rail and Form B two knee rails. Whether to use Form A or Form B should be decided due to a risk assessment. If there is a special risk (e. g. gas-endangered areas or great height of fall) there should be used Form B with two knee rails. If there is no appointment between the buyer and the manufacturer in the specification, Form B applies. According to this standard railings are constructed for a horizontal force in the height of the hand rail of 500 N/m. For rails for platforms on machines applies DIN EN ISO 14122-3.
