Summary
This standard applies for the configuration and construction of safety devices against unintentional descent at stationary accesses to process apparatus which are generally used for control and maintenance works on these apparatus. For enamelled, lined or coated apparatus and apparatus made from non-ferrous metal or plastics the application has to be checked. This standard defines three types of constructions: - safety door (with one or two knee rails); - retaining clip with one knee rail; - bar. The selection of the type of construction shall be carried out due to a risk assessment. According to this standard safety devices against unintentional descent are constructed for a horizontal force in the height of the hand rail of 500 N/m.
