Summary

The standard describes a chemical method for the determination of the chemical oxygen demand (COD) in sludge and sediment. The examination allows a quantization about the oxydizable substance-content in sludge or sediment.*The examination bases on the oxydation of the sample with potassium dichromate in a strong sulphuric-acid-solution. The not consumed dichromate-ions are to determine with iron(II)-ions by mensuration. With the result it is possible to compute the COD-value.
