The test procedure established by this standard is used for testing the action of fire resistant fluids, i.e. emulsion of type HFAE according to DIN 24320, on metallic materials. For the test emulsion is prepared from the concentrate and test water in accordance with DIN 24320 in a ratio prescribed by the supplier. Then test strips are sunmerged in the emulsion for 28 days at a temperature of 35 °C. After the test period the change in mass of the test strips is determined. Also deposits on the test strips, discolouring of their surfaces and any changes in the appearance of the emulsion are visually assessed.
