The project establishes the basis for the gaschromatographic analysis of petroleum products, both for the quantitative determination of single substances and for their quantitative presence in a sample. The project is also applicable to related products e.g. solvents in paint. The project provides a general description of a gas chromatograph, describes the analysis and the interpretation of results. It also explains and defines basic parameters such as gaschromatography, gaschromatogram, zero-line, base-line, peak, peak height, peak width at half heigh, peak area, separation number, peak asymmetrie, retention time, relative retention and retention index.
