During the production of packaging films material orientations occur. These influence the quality of the film and the weldseams. The material orientations result in shrinkage when submitted to thermal exposure above the crystallite melting temperature after production. The degree of the material orientation is determined by measuring the shrinkage. The method decribed has been developed to harmonize the variety of used test conditions. This standard specifies a method for determining the shrinkage of plastic films in a liquid bath.
