The pH value of aqueous polymer dispersions used as binders for paints and varnishes as well as aqueous paints and varnishes itself is of vital importance for the stability, rheological flow behaviour, colour strength, stability of pigments and for the development of hydrogen when using appropriate aluminium pigments. Part 1 of this standard specifies a test method for determining the pH value of aqueous polymer dispersions and coating materials using pH electrodes with glass membrane.
