Summary
This standard is applicable to the functional determination of the antithrombin activity (former known as Antithrombin III [AT III])as heparin cofactor activity with regard to thrombin. The purpose of this standard is to establish comparable results of the antithrombin activity of a sample. This determination is mainly used in the diagnosis of thrombophilic diathesis as well as for the monitoring of a substitution therapy and for the determination of the activity in antithrombin concentrates.
