Summary

The supplement describes the practised principle of the step-by-step examination of stool according to clinical/epidemiological criteria. It is the result of experience gained by long-term clinical studies. The purpose of the step-by-step examination of stool is to due justice to the trend of a continuing amendment of various examination methods caused by an increasing spectrum of pathogens by specification of routine diagnostics for individual cases including proposals of suitable culture media.
