Summary
This standard describes the safety sign 'biohazard warning' on the basis of the safety marking according to DIN 4844 part 1. The purpose of this standard is to reach a uniformity of the safety marking of all medical microbiological laboratories according to DIN 58956 part 1, where bacteriological, mycological, virological and parasitological examinations are executed. The safety sign includes as well the marking of the laboratory coat according to DIN 58956 part 2, of cooling chambers, refrigerators, deep-freezers, mailing packages according to DIN 55515 part 1, garbage cans for refuse acc. to DIN 30739 and all other containers for the preservation of propagating pathogenic and/or potential pathogenic microorganisms. The safety marking shall serve as a prophylaxis for an uncontrolles propagation and spreading of microorganisms. By that it protects people, animals and the evironment against infections.
