The different use of the term 'Fehler' (failure) in the German language for concepts like mistake, fault and defect causes confussion and conflicts in cases of contracts, acceptances, and warranties and during software development processes. The document shall clarify the different interpretations and conduce to an unequivocal description, registration and analysis of failures relating to software. In this manner contractors can consider carefully if the occurrence of failures causes the need of a correction.
