This document applies to beverage containers consisting of two cylindrical deep-drawn elements (shells) joined by welding. It applies to containers rated for an allowable operating pressure of up to 3 bar and with a nominal volume of up to 50 litres. The containers are used as returnable packaging. Beverage containers in accordance with this document (casks and kegs; hereinafter called 'containers') are preferably used for beer. This document specifies the quality requirements with respect to material, constancy of volume and dimensional stability and bursting safety.
