Flexible shaft couplings as specified in this standard are used in the field of power transmission engineering. This standard may appropriately be used also for rigid shaft couplings. The standard comprises the technical requirements for design and manufacture of flexible shaft couplings in order to allow an assessment on the basis of uniform principles. In particular, this standard is intended to serve as technical specification for the details for ordering with regard to the various designs and materials.*The application of this standard shall increase the reliability of flexible shaft couplings.
