This standard specifies general safety requirements for detection and alert systems for emergencies under water in swimming pools according to DIN EN 15288 (swimming pool type 1, type 2 and type 3). This standard is not applicable for a) Computer vision systems for the detection of drowning accidents in swimming pools according to DIN EN ISO 20380 (detection and alert Systems based on the detection of human bodies or body parts, which are located nearly without movement on the pool floor) b) swimming pools of private use.

DIN 79002 (2015-02) remains valid alongside this standard until 2018-08-31.
