Corrosion of metals in sea water and sea atmosphere - Part 3: Galvanic corrosion in sea water; Text in German and English

Summary

The criteria laid down in this standard serve to evaluate the corrosion behaviour of unprotected metallic materials and coatings subject to galvanic corosion in sea water at ambient temperature. Since the chemical composition of the sea water as well as the extent and the type of fouling are not constant through all seasons and the mechanical loads acting on the corrosion behaviour can only be stated in terms of probability. Warranty claims cannot be derived from these normative criteria. Corrosion protection obtained by coatings as well as the cathodic corrosion protection are not subjects of this standard.
