The criteria laid down in this standard serve to evaluate the corrosion behaviour of unprotected metallic materials and coatings subject to corrosion in sea atmosphere. The behaviour of the materials in contact with each other is explained with special regard to atmospheric corrosion. The estimated corrosion behaviour can only be stated in terms of probability. Warranty claims cannot be derived from these normative criteria. Corrosion protection obtained by coatings is not subject of this standard.
