This standard specifies gaskets of trapezoidal cross-section for hinged or bolted covers. These gaskets are inserted in dovetail grooves in the covers. Depending on the breadth of the sealing surface of the counterpart, two profiles are prescribed. The values for the diameters of the gaskets are to be chosen in accordance with the dimensions of the covers. The requirements concerning oil and seewater resistance take account if their application on ships.
