DIN EN 13218:2010-09

This standard specifies the technical safety requirements and/or protective measures to be adopted by persons undertaking the design, construction and supply (including installation and dismantling, arrangements for transport and maintenance) of stationary grinding machines intended to be used for the grinding of workpieces of cold metal. This standard deals with the following categories of significant hazards which are specified in detail: Mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, hazards generated by noise and vibration, by materials and substances processed or used by the machinery, by neglecting ergonomic principles in machinery design, hazards caused by unexpected start-up and unexpected overrun/overspeed, hazards due to failure of power supply or of the control circuit, hazards due to falling or ejected objects or fluids and loss of stability. This standard does not apply to honing, polishing and belt grinding machines. This standard applies to machines which are manufactured after the date of issue of this standard. With the implementation of the European Amendment A1 the European Standard is brought in line with the new edition of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
