Summary
The surface preparation of a work part may have a substantial effect on the performance of sprayed coatings especially with regard to their adhesion to the substrate and thus their protective action. In this standard, important principles are defined which shall be taken intoconsideration when surfaces of metallic parts are prepared for thermal spraying. They are valid for new production as well as for the repair of worn parts.
