This European Standard (EN) describes an effect-related (olfactory) measurement method to quantify odour emissions with the aim of assessing a potential odour nuisance in the neighbourhood of an odour source. Sensor in this method is the human sense of smell the sensitivity of which is calibrated as one of the elements of the whole system as is required for quality assurance. Thus, defined performance characteristics can be observed.
