The disc and pad interaction couple to be used as a reference is defined in this standard. The discs are used on vehicles operating on the main national networks, urban networks, underground railways, trams, private networks (regional railways, company railways, etc.). The classification will assist in the rough selection of quantity and performance for new coach, wagon and train configurations. In detail it will not be possible to derive wear and lifetime predictions more exact than good estimations. For specific service behaviour values it will in any case be necessary to determine the wear of the disc and pad couple by dynamometer tests.
