This document specifies a method for the determination of total carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen contents in solid biofuels. The principle of the method consists in the combustion of a known mass of the sample in oxygen or in an oxygen carrier gas mixture such that it is converted into ash and gaseous products. The carbon dioxide, water vapour and nitrogen mass fractions of the gas stream are determined quantitatively by appropriate instrumental gas analysis procedures.
