The scope of this European standard is restricted to the measurement of the quasi static or mean wheel and axle loads and the evaluation of the difference in static load between each side of the same vehicle, bogie and wheelset. Other derived quantities covered are average axle load of a trainset, vehicle mass and total train mass. The document is not concerned with the evaluation of dynamic axle or dynamic wheel loads. The document permits the measurement to be made at any speed within the calibrated range which may be up to line speed.
