Reactive (intumescent) coatings for fire protection of structural elements - Part 1: General requirements; German and English version prEN 16623-1:2017

Summary

This standard, will represent a partial revision of the existing EN 16623:2015 'Paints and varnishes - Reactive coatings for the fire protection of metallic substrates - Definitions, requirements, characteristics and marking'. It will specify definitions, properties and methods of testing for the characterization of reactive fire protection products that may be water or solvent based solutions, or made available as preformed profiles (e. g. as slabs or tubes). The specified requirements will generally be independent of the product type and form, except where the nature of the product needs something specific. The requirements of the standard will also be independent of the substrate material and the structural member to which it may be applied to provide the necessary fire performance. The requirements relevant to ensuring compatibility and correct application to different substrate materials will be dealt with in supplementary parts of this standard (viz Parts 2, 3, 4 and 5).
