Summary

This European Standard describes a general procedure for determination or estimation of biovolume of marine and freshwater phytoplankton taxa using inverted microscopy (Utermöhl technique). The determination of phytoplankton abundance and composition according to EN 15204 is a precondition for the calculation of the biovolume of a phytoplankton sample.
