DIN EN 1869:2018-08

This standard specifies requirements for fire blankets which are not re-usable and that are intended for use by one person. It specifies requirements for fire blankets usable to control small fires. It also limits the risk of electric shock in case of unintentional use on live electrical equipment. CEN/TC 70 has decided that fire blankets that are large enough are considered suitable to be used for smothering persons whose clothes are on fire. For fighting fires at larger cooking oil fryers and/or at burning persons the National Standardisation Committee NA 031-01-01 AA of the DIN Standards Committee for Firefighting (FNFW) recommends suitable fire extinguishers instead of fire blankets.
