Summary

EN 1993-1-1 gives basic design rules which are applicable to steel structures in general. Their use and any limits of applicability are explained in the text where necessary. It does not cover resistance to fire; particular aspects of special types of buildings and civil engineering works (e. g. bridges, masts, silos, piling or off-shore structures).
