Summary
The standard specifies specific requirements for generic cabling systems in industrial premises; it is to be used in conjunction with part 1 of the series. It specifies the cabling topology and minimum configuration, implementation options as well as the connector at the telecommunications outlet. The requirements apply to balanced copper cables and optical fibre cables with all-silica fibres, plastic clad silica fibres and plastic fibres. Amendment 1 introduces requirements for the new channel classes EA and FA as well as related component Categories 6A and 7A.
