Summary
This European Standard covers three-phase power transformers from 5 kVA up to 40000 kVA for indoor or outdoor continuous service, 50 Hz with two windings, with a highest voltage for equipment [1,1 kV <= Um <= 36 kV] and at least one of the windings having a highest voltage for equipment not below [3,6 kV]. It defines requirements related to electrical characteristics and design of three-phase medium power transformers.

DIN EN 50464-1 (2012-06) and DIN EN 50541-1 (2012-08) remain valid alongside this standard until 2018-06-25.*A transition period, as set out in DIN EN 50588-1/A1 (2018-10) and DIN EN 50588-1 (2019-12), exists until 2020-07-03.
