Fire detection and fire alarm systems - Part 20: Aspirating smoke detectors; German version EN 54-20:2006+AC:2008
Summary
This European Standard specifies the requirements, test methods and performance criteria for aspirating smoke detectors for use in fire detection and fire alarm systems installed in buildings. For testing of other types of smoke detectors, or aspirating smoke detectors with special characteristics and developed for specific risks, this standard can be used for guidance. Certain types of detector contain radioactive materials. The national requirements for radiation protection differ from country to country and they are not therefore specified in this guideline. Such detectors should, however, conform with the national requirements, which should be in line with the recommendations of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
