This part of IEC 60534 applies to all types of industrial-process control valves (hereinafter referred to as control valves). Part 1 establishes a partial basic terminology list and provides guidance on the use of all other parts of IEC 60534.

DIN EN 60534-1 (1995-01) remains valid alongside this standard until 2008-02-01.*A transition period, as set out in DIN EN IEC 60534-1 (2024-05), exists until 2026-06-27.
