This International Standard applies to all commercially available optical amplifiers (OAs) and optically amplified modules. It applies to OAs using optically pumped fibres (OFAs based on either rare-earth doped fibres or on the Raman effect), semiconductor OAs (SOAs) and waveguides (POWAs).
