Summary
Specifies a file format for describing communication related IED (Intellogent Electronic Device) configurations and IED parameters, communication systemconfigurations, switchyard (function) structures, and the relations between them. The main purpose of this format is to exchange IED capability descriptions, and SA system descriptions between IED engennering tools and the system engeneering tool(s) of a different manufactures in a compatible way

DIN EN 61850-6 (2005-12) remains valid alongside this standard until 2013-02-01.*A transition period, as set out in DIN EN 61850-6 (2020-03), exists until 2021-07-12.
