At 2015 Berlin meeting, it was discussed that it was time for TC49 to begin on the standardization of piezoelectric sensor devices, and approved simultaneously that WG13 on sensor devices and systems should have been set up to accelerate the establishment of international standards. The new work item proposal 49/1167/NP was circulated in August 2015, and comments on the proposal were compiled and circulated as part of 49/1177/RVN in December 2015. By assigning maximum value to the comments submitted from national committees of TC49, this draft was prepared as generic specifications common to various piezoelectric sensor devices.
