The document applies to heavy duty side channel pumps with a nominal pressure of 40 bar. Side channel pumps are liquid pumps which evacuate the inlet pipe and thereby automatically draw in the liquid to be pumped without the aid of ancilliary equipment. They must be able to pump a liquid gas mixture with a gas content of at least 30 % at the suction nozzle, wth steady operation. Subject to special conditions, e.g. temperature, material of construction, shaft sealing, the operating pressure must not rise above the nominal pressure.
