Summary
This document specifies a reference method for determining the free water content of building materials by drying at levated temperature. This document does not specify sampling. It is applicable to porous water permeable materials. The moisture content of building materials can be used for various purposes, such as part of a test method for the moisture related behaviour of the material, to characterize the material's state, to compare the actual moisture content with the critical or safe content or to assess the moisture distribution.
